After the tragic events of 9-11, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was formed and considerable resources were allocated to first evaluate and then up-grade the overall security posture of the United States borders and points of entry. Similar to the security gaps identified in our airports, security at port facilities, harbors, shipping, and dockside tourist attractions were found to be severely lacking.
